Bank Holidays Schedule: Planning to visit the bank next month? Better check the holiday calendar before you go. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the official schedule of bank holidays for September 2025, taking into account national festivals, regional observances, and weekly offs.

According to the notification, banks will remain closed on 15 different days in September. This includes religious festivals, state-specific holidays, Sundays, and the regular second and fourth Saturdays. To avoid last-minute inconvenience, customers are advised to complete important transactions ahead of time.

  • September 3 (Wednesday): Karma Puja – Banks shut in Ranchi (Jharkhand)

  • September 4 (Thursday): First Onam – Holiday in Kerala (Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi)

  • September 5 (Friday): Eid-e-Milad (Milad-un-Nabi) – Observed in several states

  • September 6 (Saturday): Eid-e-Milad/Indrajatra – Holiday in Gangtok and Raipur

  • September 7 (Sunday): Weekly off – Banks shut nationwide

  • September 12 (Friday): Day after Eid-e-Milad – Additional leave in select states

  • September 13 (Saturday): Second Saturday – Holiday across India

  • September 14 (Sunday): Weekly off – Nationwide closure
